The Indiana turkey season came in today, no gobbling because of the weather with the rain high winds. It looks the same way for thursday and if anyone had a idea that could help me out please share.Lot of people say stay at the house but i know for sure i wont see anything at the house instead of the blind.

Hey George thanks for the tip i really appreicate it that was probably my problem in the past because it never failed i would have a gobbler just blowin the woods up and i would call and call and it was like he never would come he would hang up and with that tip that might help me seal the deal,One nice thing for me george I can hunt birds all day. and hopefully soon you will be able to as well

Chad,

Not sure where you are at here in the Hoosier state, but up here in the Northwest part unless you have private ground you can only hunt till noon. The stats I have seen show that most birds are killed between 7am-10am. That being said, yes it should be easier to pull in Tom's in the afternoon as the hens will leave them to go nest.

Calling in the morning does work, just don't over do it. I try not to call more than once every 20 minutes at the most. Normally I wait 30-45 minutes. If you call to much the Tom's might just wait the "hen" out thinking she is really hot and will come to him.

I live in Indiana and our turkey season comes in on April 27 witch is alot later then usual and trying to figure out how to approach, it most generally hen lay there eggs in may. I don't know how the gobblers will respond to calling,or if it would be a waste of time to hunt early morning because they could be henned up as soon as they fly down or this could be a hot time and if could go better then I could expect if anyone has any advise it would be helpful.

Hi Neighbor Jon:)

We hunt in Central Minnesota! Season Starts for us Wednesday April 13th. Many of us did not get picked this year, but that does not limit us from taking out the youth and catching a spare tag towards the end of the season. Also will be guiding the Disabled Veterans hunt in Camp Ripley. Always an excitement here!

let's keep in touch:)

Welcome to the site fellow Blood Brothers from the Midwest.  I hunt primarily in Central Wisconsin.  Who are you and where do you hunt?

Turkey season is almost here in Wisconsin.  In Wisconsin we have a lottery for hunt dates.  I got April 19th.  It's the second season I believe so the turkeys should be talking by then but not to smart.  I can't wait!  When and where do you hunt?
